There is nothing wrong with playing it safe.

Sometimes, safe is exactly what you need.

But when it comes to your home, I have a question.

How long do you really want to play it safe?

I see so many rooms that are perfectly lovely.

The colors are neutral. The furniture is tasteful. Everything coordinates.

Nothing is offensive.

Nothing is particularly exciting, either.

And that is where I have a problem.

A home should not feel like it is afraid to make a decision.

I think we have become so accustomed to safe decorating that we sometimes confuse safe with beautiful.

They are not the same thing.

Safe says, “Nobody will dislike this.”

Glamorous says, “I love this.”

There is a difference.

And I am much more interested in the second one.

Beige is not the enemy. Neither are neutrals.

There are beautiful neutral rooms, and I appreciate a well-designed one.

My problem begins when neutral becomes the only answer.

When every wall is beige, every sofa is beige, every accessory is beige, and every room starts to look like it was designed by the same person, something has been lost.

You have been lost.

Your home should not be a test of how well you can avoid making a mistake.

Your home should be a reflection of your taste.

That may mean color. It may mean texture. It may mean contrast. It may mean something unexpected.

It may even mean breaking a decorating rule that you were told you were supposed to follow.

The point is not to be outrageous just for the sake of being outrageous.

The point is to have a reason for your choices.

That is where confidence comes in.

A confident room does not need to scream.

It simply knows what it wants to say.

That is one of the ideas I explore in The Glamorous Room.

And if you are wondering how to take these ideas from something you read on a blog to something you can actually use in your own home, that is where the book comes in.

The Glamorous Room is for the woman who is ready to stop guessing.

It is for the woman who wants to understand why some rooms have that certain something and how to begin creating that feeling in her own home.

It is for the woman who wants more than a collection of pretty rooms.

She wants to know how to see her own room differently.

So here is my invitation.

Put it on your coffee table. Pour yourself a glass of something fabulous. Sit down, open the first page, and give yourself permission to think differently about your home.

Then walk through your house with the book's ideas in the back of your mind.

Look at the rooms you have been overlooking.

Look at the pieces you have been afraid to use.

Look at the choices you made simply because they were safe.

And ask yourself one question:

“Does this feel like me?”

If the answer is no, The Glamorous Room will give you a new way to think about what comes next.

I wrote this book because I believe your home can be more than beautiful.

It can be personal.

It can be memorable.

It can have confidence.

It can have drama.

It can have glamour.

So don't just read another blog post about creating a beautiful home.

Buy The Glamorous Room and come inside.

There is much more waiting for you there.

And, as I keep saying:

Beautiful is blah. Glam is everything.
